Union Government Appoints Six New Additional Solicitors General, Reaches Full Strength in Supreme Court Representation

New Delhi: For the first time, the Union government will have a full complement of 13 law officers to represent it in the Supreme Court. This comes after the appointment of six new Additional Solicitors General (ASGs). These senior advocates bring a wealth of experience from various states and domains.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the appointment of these six new ASGs. The newly appointed ASGs include:

  • S Dwarkanath
  • Archana P Dave
  • Satya Darshi Sanjay
  • Brijender Chahar
  • Raghvendra P Shankar
  • Rajkumar B Thakare (Raja Thakare)

These new appointments join the existing team of ASGs, which includes:

  • S V Raju
  • N Venkataraman
  • K M Natraj
  • Aishwarya Bhati
  • Vikramjit Banerjee

With the addition of the six new ASGs, the total number of ASGs now stands at 11. This brings the overall strength of law officers, including the Attorney General R Venkataramani and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, to 13.
