Manu Bhaker on Meeting Sachin Tendulkar: “I Grew Up Watching Him”
Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker recently had the chance to meet cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. The young shooter shared her excitement, saying it was a moment she had dreamed of since childhood.
Bhaker, 23, has long admired Tendulkar. “I grew up watching him,” she said. “Whether he was playing cricket or appearing on TV, he was always a part of my life. Meeting him in person was very special.”
The meeting took place in Mumbai during an event celebrating Bhaker and fellow shooters Sarabjot Singh and Swapnil Kusale. The trio had recently returned from the Paris Olympics 2024, where they earned accolades for their performances.
Bhaker also shared insights from her conversation with Tendulkar. “He talked to me about facing challenges and how to overcome hurdles. It was an inspiring conversation with someone I’ve looked up to my whole life,” she said.
Aside from meeting Tendulkar, Bhaker praised Paralympian Avani Lekhara, who won a gold medal at the ongoing Paralympics in Paris. “Avani’s journey is truly inspiring. Despite all the obstacles, she has brought glory to India. I’m thrilled that people are recognizing her achievements,” Bhaker added.
This encounter with Tendulkar and her praise for Lekhara highlights Bhaker’s admiration for athletes who inspire the nation. Both these experiences add to Bhaker’s growing list of cherished memories as she continues her journey in sports.
