Ravi Kumar, a head constable with the Delhi police, was celebrating a colleague’s farewell party when he suddenly felt chest pain and collapsed.

A young Delhi police officer, who was dancing at a farewell party, tragically died after likely suffering a heart attack. Ravi Kumar, a head constable with the Delhi police, was enjoying the party for a colleague when he suddenly felt chest pain and collapsed on Wednesday. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Kumar was stationed at the Roop Nagar police station and had recently undergone an angiography about 45 days ago. A video of the event shows him dancing to a loud Haryanvi song before stepping aside, after which he suffered the heart attack.

Ravi Kumar, a resident of Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh who lived in Model Town, is survived by his wife and two children. He joined the Delhi Police Force in 2010.

This incident is not isolated. In April, an 18-year-old girl named Rimsha collapsed and died shortly after dancing at her sister’s wedding in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. A video showed her initially enjoying the music before touching her chest and collapsing.

In another case, a month later in Indore, a retired soldier fell on stage during a yoga event while performing enthusiastically to a patriotic song. The audience, initially believing it was part of the performance, continued clapping until the situation was recognized as serious.

In October of the previous year, Gujarat saw at least 10 heart attack deaths at garba events within a single day, with the youngest victim being just 17 years old.
