Massive Manhunt in Jammu and Kashmir: Man Arrested After Fleeing with Cop’s AK-47

Jammu and Kashmir, Doda: A massive manhunt was launched in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, after a man disappeared with an AK-47 rifle belonging to a police officer. The suspect, Mohammad Rafi, was arrested on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when Special Police Officer (SPO) Safdar Hussain accepted a ride from Rafi. Hussain, who was carrying an AK-47 rifle, stepped out of the vehicle near a flyover in Doda to buy a bottle of water, leaving his weapon in Rafi’s car. Rafi took off with the officer’s vehicle moments later.

Authorities swiftly launched a manhunt, and Rafi was traced to the Jagota area of Bhalla, where the vehicle was found abandoned. The incident has heightened concerns as Jammu and Kashmir has recently witnessed several terror-related activities.
Recent Terror-Related Incidents in Doda:
The region is already on high alert. On Tuesday, security forces detained three individuals, including a couple, for questioning regarding terrorist movements in Doda. Authorities believe a group of three to four terrorists is hiding in the higher reaches of the district.
Earlier in June, terrorists attacked a joint check post on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road, injuring five soldiers and a Special Police Officer (SPO). On Wednesday evening, another police officer was injured when terrorists opened fire on a search party in Kota Top village, Gandoh.
Security forces continue to intensify their efforts in the region, focusing on locating and neutralizing the remaining terrorist cells.
